About Me

A doctor by profession.
A strategist by discipline.
A builder by purpose.

I am Dr. Makelele Majur — from Kapat Village in Bor, South Sudan. My life bridges three worlds: medicine, chess, and education. This is my story.

My Story

From Kapat Village to a Global Vision

I was born in Kapat Village, in Bor, South Sudan — a proud member of the Koch clan. My community shaped my values before any classroom did: resilience, responsibility, and the belief that no person rises alone.

I pursued medicine because I saw, from an early age, how fragile life can be when access to healthcare is limited. Becoming a medical doctor was not just a career choice — it was an act of service to a region that has long carried the weight of scarcity.

My studies took me to the University of Nairobi, where I completed my Master's degree. Those years sharpened my thinking, expanded my worldview, and connected me with mentors and peers across East Africa.

Alongside medicine, chess became my second discipline. What began as a game grew into a philosophy: every move matters, every silence has meaning, and the strongest position is built long before the final move. Chess taught me patience — and patience taught me leadership.

Today, I combine all of it — medicine, strategy, coaching, and community — into one long-term mission: to build Kapat College, an institution that will unlock the potential of thousands of young South Sudanese who deserve a real place in the global conversation.

What Guides Me

Three Pillars, One Purpose

01

Healing

Medicine is service. Every diagnosis, every conversation, every patient is a chance to restore dignity and hope.

02

Strategy

Chess taught me to think in generations, not moves. The right decision today builds the future we cannot yet see.

03

Legacy

Kapat College is not a building. It is a promise — that young South Sudanese will inherit tools, not just talent.

Chess Philosophy

Every move is a lesson in life.

Chess is more than a game — it is a language of patience, foresight, and self-control. As a competitive player and coach, I use chess to teach young people that strategy always outperforms speed, and that discipline is the foundation of every meaningful victory.

Every child I coach learns not only how to win a game, but how to think through pressure, respect opponents, and plan for a future they cannot yet see.
